For the "Their Eyes Were Watching God" unit, I have selected the presentation I used to discuss chapter five for my seminar. I was very happy about how my presentation went, as the class did an excellent job of participating, which helped everything go much more smoothly.

One adjustment I have made to the presentation is that I have written out my explanation for the creative piece. I am not skilled at speaking on my feet, thus my original explanation about the bunny-duck piece was not extremely clear. Therefore, if I were to redo the presentation, I'd have my speaking cues on the screen to help me better get my point across. :)

Another adjustment I would make, if I could repeat the presentation, is to ensure that my peers understand that the question of "who's to blame?" has only one answer: Joe. Janie and anyone else in abusive situations are victims of their abuser. It is not their fault. Janie doesn't leave Joe for many reasons, but a major one is that she is trapped- physically, mentally, emotionally. She doesn't have any other options but him. If I could have a do-over with the discussion, I would make sure to emphasize that point more strongly.
